Tables and canvases are different
Numbers places multiple tables and drawings on a canvas. Excel uses worksheets. The reader maps each supported table into its own sheet, and provides one CSV per table. Drawings and canvas positions are not part of those tabular exports.
Numbers formulas may depend on application-specific behavior. This export uses cached values rather than pretending every expression can be translated. Recalculate critical totals in your destination workbook.
Check dates and text
CSV has no type system, so a spreadsheet application may reinterpret leading zeros, dates or long identifiers. Import CSV with explicit column types when identifiers matter. XLSX retains more cell-type information.
Formula-like CSV strings are prefixed with an apostrophe to stop them from being evaluated when opened. That protective character is intentional.
Choose the export that fits the next step
Open the .numbers file, inspect the reported table count and download the XLSX workbook when you want the tables together. Choose an individual CSV for a database import or a single-table workflow. The on-page preview shows only an initial portion of each recovered table; the exports include all supported rows within the processing limit.
For example, suppose a table contains Apples, 12 and 1.50, with a total stored as 18. The exported total is a value. Changing 12 to 20 in the destination does not promise that 18 will become 30. Add and verify an appropriate Excel formula if continued calculation is needed. Keep the original Numbers workbook until that check is complete.
Inspect the risky columns first
Check account codes such as 00123, decimal separators, dates, currencies and blank cells before importing a CSV. Select text columns explicitly for identifiers. A protective apostrophe on a formula-like CSV value prevents unintended evaluation; do not remove it from untrusted content just to make the file look cleaner. The tool rejects workbooks beyond 64 supported tables or 500,000 cells rather than silently truncating an oversized export.
